Using empty homes to regenerate communities

Thursday 2nd May 2019: York

Action on Empty Homes is holding a free event for all those interested in taking action on empty homes.

At this event we will launch the final report from our 3-year study of community- based approaches to bringing empty homes into use

Brighid Carey

Project Manager from Action on Empty Homes

will present findings from ‘Community action on empty homes’, highlighting what can be achieved by communities and what can be learned from the challenges faced by our demonstration projects

Darren Baxter

Housing Policy and Partnerships Manager from Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF) and author of research papers and articles

will speak about the causal links between poor housing and poverty underpinning and the need for regeneration

Chris Bailey

Campaigns Manager from Action on Empty Homes

will speak about his work to build a coalition calling on Government for positive intervention to bring empty homes into use

You can hear from the community-based projects we followed who show that many types of communities can work in partnership with others to bring empty homes into use, to provide training and support for local people and to deliver secure affordable homes for people to live in
