The Empty Homes Network are pleased to announce the following course, available for housing professionals and practitioners to be delivered by Hoarding UK. Designed to be eductaional, interactive and empowering, the course aims to positively impact your active casework when dealing with hoarders and their properties, and seeks to improve outcomes for people who hoard as well as the professionals and others who engage with them.
The course outline includes:
- Understanding Hoarding disorder
- Case study work
- Policy and procedures
- Risk/Risk assessment
- Legislation including safeguarding and the Care Act 2014
- Supporting hoarding disorder through the term of the relationship using positive engagement techniques
- Outcomes and practice tools
Practitioners are encouraged to bring their current hoarding related casework to sessions to ensure that the content can be integrated into practice. The course is suitable for all housing professionals who may encounter haording as part of their roles, including empty property officers, environmental health officers and private sector housing staff.
The course will be held virtually, on the Microsoft Teams platform.
