Do you want to be part of a fast-paced and dynamic team working within the vibrant City of Cambridge?
Working in an iconic, vibrant diverse and expanding University city such as Cambridge, with a high percentage of private rented sector accommodation, you will be joining an organisation where Environmental Health is an important and highly regarded Service. Here at Cambridge City, we work as one council to achieve our vision where people matter, where Cambridge is a good place to live, learn and work and where we care for the planet.
If you have the talents we’re looking for, we’ll give you a warm welcome – and access to a range of benefits including generous annual leave, pension and discounts on public transport. You will also enjoy opportunities for flexible working, a broad learning and development programme, an access to our health and wellbeing programme. We also have a relocation package available for those who are looking to relocate to Cambridgeshire.
As a Principal Environmental Health Officer (PEHO) in the Residential Team, we will look to you to undertake a range of duties from basic investigations / inspections to the most complex cases around private sector housing, including environmental protection relating to private dwellings in line with legislation and service policy. This will include the removal of hazards arising from repair, amenity, overcrowding, fire safety, and energy related matters as well as dealing with harassment and the threat of illegal eviction. The ability to assist in leading the team to deliver successful outcomes is essential to support the implementation of the agreed work programme.
Maybe you have reached your personal and professional goals in your current role or are looking to take your next step, perhaps considering a side-ways move to specialise in a really interesting and important area of work including assisting to meet the challenge regarding delivery of the implementation of extension of mandatory licensing relating to houses in multiple occupation (HMO’s) – could this be your next step?
You will join us with a Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health and Certificate of Registration of the Environmental Health Registration Board and have an advanced qualification in a specialist area. As an experienced Environmental Health Officer, you will have the ability to communicate well at all levels and will be able to present facts and negotiate in a balanced manner. You must also be confident in the preparation and construction of reports, applying your knowledge to interpret legislation and applying standards and legal requirements to support decisions.
