Production company TwoFour are seeking Empty Homes Projects and Officers for a second series of their successful BBC1 Series, The Empty Housing Scandal. After producing a very popular 5 episode series highlighting both the scale of the problem, as well as the incredible work done by officers up and down the Country, TwoFour have been commissioned to produce a second series, this time running for 10 episodes. Steve Grogan, of TwoFour: BBC - The Empty Housing Scandal Calling all Empty Homes professionals! After the success of our BBC1 series The Empty Housing Scandal earlier this year and our previous five series of The Housing Enforcers we are now in production on another series which explores how councils, housing associations and charities are tackling the UKs housing crisis. In each episode consumer champion Matt Allwright will concentrate on an empty property at some point in its journey to be put back into use as a home; it could be the moment it is discovered, neglected and in disrepair, it could be half way through the process of renovation, or it could be the moment it is handed to a grateful family and brought back to life.
  • Perhaps your team have just been made aware of a property that is vacant and being misused? Matt could join them as they gain access for the first time to assess what may need to be done.
  • Or you may now have control of a property and are mid-renovation? Maybe the roofing contractor is booked to assess the extent of a leaking roof - or a shiny new bathroom is about to be installed? We would be interested in filming some of the work being carried out, or (if time allows) a ‘before and after’ to show the extent of the work that has been undertaken.
  • Maybe you are soon to hand over the keys of a finished product to a family who had previously been homeless - we could follow the moment they first set eyes on their brand new home and hear what this fresh start means to them.
In terms of time commitment, it’s unlikely that we would be able to follow the whole process from start to finish, therefore we would not require long term filming access to your institution. Instead, we are asking you to put forward any stories of properties your teams have that may suit - in any stage of the process. Our filming period is from mid July 2019 to mid-September 2019. Our approach is positive and celebratory of the work the professionals do and the challenges they face in dealing with empty homes.  For more information please contact Alex or Leah at:alex.masters@twofour.co.uk or 01752 727533Leah.Jones@twofour.co.uk 01752 727584
