The Roles
Principal Officer – Empty Homes Team
Salary: £46,142- £51,356
Term: Permanent, Full-Time

This is a hands-on role at the heart of our work to bring empty homes and underused land back into use across Liverpool. As Principal Officer, you’ll manage your own complex caseload while supporting a small team to target the right properties and get results where it matters most. Using data, intelligence and local knowledge, you’ll take forward challenging cases and drive action—from early intervention through to enforcement—helping to turn empty properties back into homes and improve neighbourhoods across the city.
· We’re looking for someone who knows how to get things moving
· You’ll have solid experience in housing or enforcement, be confident handling complex investigations, and be comfortable balancing your own casework with supervising and supporting others
· You’ll need sound judgement, strong communication skills, and a practical, solutions-focused approach

Senior Enforcement Officer – Empty Homes

This is a hands-on role focused on tackling some of the city’s most challenging empty homes and bringing them back into use.
· You’ll manage your own caseload of complex vacant properties, using a mix of proactive targeting and reactive work to move cases forward. From inspections and evidence gathering through to formal enforcement and court action where needed, you’ll take ownership of your cases and see them through to resolution, helping to make a real difference to neighbourhoods across Liverpool
· We’re looking for someone who is confident in an enforcement environment and knows how to progress investigations and get results
· You’ll have experience dealing with complex cases, a solid understanding of relevant housing legislation, and the ability to use intelligence to target your work effectively

Private Sector Housing Technical Compliance Officer – Empty Homes

This is a hands-on role focused on tackling empty homes and helping bring them back into use across Liverpool. You’ll manage your own caseload, carrying out inspections, checking compliance and progressing cases through to the next stage. Using a mix of proactive targeting and reactive work, you’ll gather evidence, prepare notices and support enforcement action, playing a key role in moving cases forward and helping to turn empty properties into homes.
· We’re looking for someone who enjoys getting out on site and getting stuck into cases
· You might already have experience in housing, compliance or a related technical role, or you're looking to build on your skills in inspections and enforcement
· You’ll be organised, practical and able to manage your own workload, with good communication skills and a willingness to learn
