This gives a useful description of the current state of play in the plans to revise the performance management / auditing regime for local authorities under the Coalition government. There are no surprises - assessment and inspection of the performance of councils has gone and will be replaced by local scrutiny with greater access to information. How this translates into the kind of standardisation that would allow local people to assess the performance of their council in tackling empty homes remains hard to gauge.
