Community right to challenge - consultation exercise 2011

March 23, 2011
A number of empty homes practitioners have wondered whether the community right to challenge migth offer them a chance to run a more effective service than they have been able to as employees of their local authority.  This government consultation exercise is the latest part of the process in developing this new aspect of localism. It is worth noting that it does not extend to services where a decision has been made to stop the service in question, so you could not use it to rescue yourself from redundancy if the whole empty homes function was being wound down.
