Managing Borrowing and Dealing with Debt - Call for Evidence in Support of the Consumer Credit and Insolvency Review

November 29, 2010
This links to the page where you can download the consultation document and Word version of the consultation response.  The closing date is the 10th December 2010. This consultation covers the issue of enforced sale: "The Coalition remains concerned that the threat of an order for sale may be used other than as a last resort to recover unpaid debts and proposes introducing a threshold of £25,000."    Andrew Lavender has been involved in supplying feedback to the Ministry of Justice on this issue and he has advised that there are different strands to this review project, with mortgages being handled separately from consumer credit (ie unsecured loans).  This particular document is clearly aimed mainly at consumer credit (unsecured loans)  arther than other debts.  However, we can't afford to take the risk of ignoring it given the wording of hte question. EHN will produce a draft consultation response shortly. You are encouraged to do the same.
