Priority Regulatory Outcomes - consultation 2011
February 9, 2011
This consultation from the Local Better Regulation Office about changing from "National Enforcement Priorities" to "Priority Regulatory Outcomes" looks a bit like re-organising the deckchairs on the Titanic in the context of the cuts that weill affect all regulatory actitivities. Empty Homes figures in the "long list" of identified policy areas for enforcement, but generally housing seems to get squeezed down the priorities and doesn't have a proper place to belong. (It has been shoved into environment rather than health even though the evidence base points more to the health impacts of housing). This document provides useful insight into something or other but don't ask me what. It is hard to see any real practical impacts that will emerge from the consultation process, which looks like a swan-song of the Local Better Regulation Office as it prepares to sail off into the sunset to be replaced by a unit within the Departmnent of Business Innvoation and Skills.
