Public Sector Data Sharing: Guidance on the Law (November 2003)

This provides detailed legal guidance, with reference to cases, on the issue of data sharing within and between public bodies. This extends much more widely than local authorities eg it includes police forces and central government. The section on local authorities is dominated by a discussion of access to council tax data and reference is made to S85 of the LG Act 2003. However since this document was published the Information Commissioner has taken a more flexible approach following further legal advice.
