Plus benefits The Job: We are recruiting to an exciting post in our shared Private Sector Housing Team, delivering services for both Cherwell District Council and South Northamptonshire Council. As the Councils’ Empty Property Officer you will play a leading role in getting empty homes back into use.  You will investigate complaints and referrals about empty homes and compile and maintain our database of long-term empty homes.  You will encourage owners to re-use empty property and provide advice and assistance, including grants and loans.  You will also be responsible for initiating and leading on enforcement interventions including remedial action and the preparation of EDMO cases and for preparing reports and providing data to support our work. You will be given considerable independence but will have a full case-load and will need to demonstrate a commitment to our housing work. The Person: You will be a confident and independent person who can use your skills and experience to get empty property back into use.  You must have a good understanding of empty homes issues and of the legislation and enforcement tools available to deal with them.  You will also need a sound knowledge of house-construction and building practice and be experienced in inspecting domestic premises. You will be a strong communicator and negotiator with a proven track record of working with a considerable degree of independence.
