The government has published its response to the consultation on what should happen to empty homes premium receipts. They have confirmed that they will stick with their original proposals to distrubute the money to precepting authorities such as Fire and Rescue, Police, Shire (county) councils in accordance with normal practices. This means that the additional money will not be available to be ring-fenced for housing or empty homes work in two-tier authorities even if there was a political desire to do so.
