£100million - still time to submit expressions of interest

The Empty Homes Network has released its Briefing on the £100million allocated to empty homes within the affordable housing budget in the Comprehensive Spending Review. This is available to all-comers for the time being (though we expect to restrict access after 3rd May). If you have further questions which the Briefing doesn't address then please us know and we will update it. The Briefing identifies key opportunities and constraints within the programme. For example we have established that homes brought back into use via local authority leasing schemes could in principle be funded from the programme. We've also established that schemes that would have been funded as purchase-and-repair, rehab, acquisition and works, conversions of redundant commercial premises etc within earler HCA programmes can stil be funded within the main Affordable Homes Programme (ie are not restricted to the £100million for empty homes). Critically, there are still nearly three weeks for potential providers to get their offers or expressions of interest in. The charity Empty Homes, with support from self-help-housing.org and the HCA itself, has published a 3-side Expression-of-Interest template for use by potential providers.
