EDMOs - Pickles acts to protect empty homes owners

Latest news
January 7, 2011

Eric Pickles has announced that EDMO powers are to be curbed. This was first reported by the BBC (see http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-12127328) and we now have the press release on our website. The exact changes have yet to be agreed although it is clear what the intention is and we can be fairly sure that there will be a requirement for the home to have been empty for 2 years and in some respect a "nuisance". There is not going to be a formal consultation process but we have the opportunity to feed into CLG on the issue who have contacted us for our views. These will have to be submitted by close of business on the 14th January. A draft response will go up shortly.
