EHN drafts response to Eric Pickles proposals to change EDMOs

Latest
January 10, 2011

We have drafted a response to Eric Pickles' statement about forthcoming changes to the EDMO legislation. This can be downloaded from here. We have been invited by DCLG to feed into the amendment process. This response has been requested by close-of-business on January 14th - there will be no formal consultation. Thus if you have any comments please submit them now by commenting in the EDMO forum. EHN submits response to New Homes Bonus Consultation

Latest
December 10, 2010

The Empty Homes Network has now submitted its response to the government's consultation on the New Homes Bonus (downloadable from here). For example, we identify that "data cleansing" may play a disproportionate role in the amount of bonus distributed. We continue to promote the idea of government adding value to local authority initiatives by direct and targeted funding as a better alternative.

The consultation is also described as covering "Empty Homes" (page 7). Section 3 does indeed deal exclusively with Empty Homes. It describes empty properties as "a blight on local communities and a waste of housing stock which we cannot afford.". It...
